Bio:

Rev Melissa R Johnson, originally from Chicago IL was called into ministry at the age of 12. Evangelism and community outreach was her focus for many years until her entrepreneurial successes caught the attention of others.
Rev Johnson’s marketplace ministry advice has been sought out and published in over 300 publications to include but not limited to Forbes Magazine, Entrepreneur Magazine, CEO Weekly and The US Reporter.
She has been invited to facilitate and speak across the globe to include appearances in Dubai, South Africa, Kenya, Barbados, and the United Kingdom.
In 2017, Rev Johnson was featured on the television show “Women on the Rise Atlanta” and became a recurring guest on Nashville’s 92Q FM. This led to an opportunity to host her own show on Albuquerque’s 99.9 The Beat.
In 2019, Rev Johnson was hired as the Women’s Pastor of Life Church in Fort Worth, TX and ran for Dallas City Council - District 8 in 2021.
Certified in international life and business coaching, as well as Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Rev Johnson is currently working on her Masters degree in Divinity from Stark College & Seminary.
She is also a graduate of the City of San Antonio Neighborhood Leadership Academy, the NAACP Civil Rights and Advocacy Training Institute, Arena Academy, Supermajority Leaders program, and the National Democratic Training Committee’s Staff Academy.
Rev Johnson is a member of the U.S. Women’s Chamber of Commerce, the Society of Professional Journalists - San Antonio Chapter, NAACP San Antonio Chapter – Women in NAACP (WIN) Committeewoman, the National Federation of Democratic Women, Texas Democratic Women - Bexar County Chapter. She serves as co-chair of Economic Empowerment with the National Coalition of 100 Black Women's San Antonio Chapter. Melissa serves the Bexar County Democratic Party as Assistant Treasurer, and member of both the Communications Committee and Budget & Finance Committees. Melissa was recently elected as treasurer of the North East Bexar County Democrats PAC and serves as the co-chair of their Communications Committee as well.
On June 22, 2023, Rev Johnson was appointed and sworn in to the highest profile City Board that will be advising Mayor Ron Niremburg and City Council on the $2.5 billion San Antonio Airport Terminal Development Program.
Most recently, Rev Johnson was invited to New York to participate in the United Nations 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women.
Rev Johnson’s favorite accomplishment and hat to wear is that of wife and mother. Her and her husband Tyrone are raising six children; Atesia (24) B.A. in Journalism and Public Relations, Minor in Film/Media, Isaac (22) academic & basketball scholarship recipient to Penn State GA, Alana (17) pre-med senior at Miles College, Aniyah (16) pre-law junior at Miles College, Adina (14) freshman political science major at Miles College, Aubriella (10) principal dancer & training for the junior olympics in gymnastics.
Currently, Rev Johnson serves at Second Baptist Church, San Antonio under the leadership of Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Robert L. Jemerson.
